Our team at Jupiter Hotel & Jupiter NEXT are locals -- and we mean local locals -- the type of folks who absolutely love where they live. We've put together a few lists of our favorite spots to share with you, whether you're visiting Portland for the first time, or you've lived here all your life. Maybe you'll find something new! Portland Street Art Alliance's in-person driving/biking/walking tours are where it's at. During tours, PSAA directors speak about the city's rich history of murals and graffiti art, active community projects, and a range of topics related to street art, graffiti, and the politics of public space. Plus, you'll get to see a wealth of Portland artists' work around town.

Believed to be one of the 14 landing spots of Lewis & Clark, Cathedral Park comes with breathtaking views of the St John's Bridge, Forest Park, downtown Portland, and more. Plus, there are always events happening on the green like the long-lived Portland Jazz Festival, as well as dance rehearsals, weddings, photoshoots, picnics, and plenty of other celebratory experiences. At least one of our staff members got married in this gorgeous slice of Portland Parks & Rec, too! Definitely worth grabbing a book and heading up to North Portland to relax.
Cathedral Park
Thought to be the highest point in Portland at 1,073 ft above sea level, Council Crest Park gives great mountain views, has an off-leash dog area, and offers a lovely quiet respite in an otherwise busy SW Portland area.

The Pittock Mansion is a French Renaissance-style château in the West Hills of Portland, originally built in 1914. These days, you can tour several of the mansion's rooms, walk the grounds, and catch exhibits all year long. We also highly recommend a trip to Pittock Mansion around the holidays if decadently traditional decor is your jam!

In a city that is known for how weird & quirky it can be, you don't get much stranger than Stark's Vacuum Museum, This one-of-a-kind exhibit showcases more than 100 vacuums from the late-1800s to the 1960s within a 10 feet x 40-foot section of the Stark's Vacuums store. Admission is free, and it's only about five blocks from the hotel. And yes, it IS way more interesting in person than it sounds!

You may already know that Portland's East and West sides are separated by the Willamette River, but have you walked on the Eastbank Esplanade and gotten the epic view of Downtown Portland it offers? A great spot to get in a run or bike ride, this 1.5 mile trail between the Steel and Hawthorne bridges boasts a number of urban markers and architectural feats along the esplanade, as well as wildlife from the river and surrounding land. And if the weather is right, don your favorite swimming suit and dive in! It's well worth a visit if you're up for the walk.

Check out other spectacular sights like Multnomah Falls, Mount Tabor, The Grotto, and so many more when you come to Portland -- or take a special trip if you live here and haven't been to these spots in a while!
