Our team at Jupiter Hotel & Jupiter NEXT are locals -- and we mean local locals -- the type of folks who absolutely love where they live. We've put together a few lists of our favorite spots to share with you, whether you're visiting Portland for the first time, or you've lived here all your life. Maybe you'll find something new! First things first, make sure you...

Well, not my father's place... you get it. Located in the heart of the rapidly-changing Central Eastside Industrial District in Portland, OR, My Father's Place is a family-owned and operated bar and restaurant that has been serving up authentic old-school Portland comfort food and drinks since 1978. With all-day breakfast options in that diner style we all love and appreciate, you'll find a full stack of pancakes, bacon everything, and plenty of other options to satisfy your breakfast needs. Plus, when you're done eating (or while you wait), you'll find pinball machines, an old-school jukebox, Big Buck Hunter, and so much more to occupy your time!
My Father's Place
Proud Mary, originally a coffee company out of Melbourne, Australia, brings their hip Aussie-style cafe to a Portland industrial-chic space offering craft coffee, deliciously-innovative breakfasts & smoothies that will knock your socks off. Get your standard Vegemite-on-toast fare, or go nuts with a french toast feast that includes twice baked french toast, sumac poached figs, rosemary & goats cheese crème, and amaranth. Or peep the avocado toast pictured here... Seriously. Go.
Proud Mary Cafe
Did someone say Bloody Marys? At this simple, small Scandanavian eatery, breakfast dishes are especially popular and include everything from Swedish Hash (pictured above), Norwegian Lefse, and the adorably Instagram-worthy Danish aebleskiver. Each meal represents a different Scandanavian country, and we couldn't recommend them enough.
Broder Cafe
Coming from Atlanta, Katie is no stranger to everything the Southern-inspired Screen Door has to offer. And yes, there is gravy on nearly everything. If you're looking for oversized bites that you can bring home with you after, you've come to the right place. We recommend their enormous buttermilk fried chicken & waffle, with the upgrade for real maple syrup. She also wants to remind you that it's perfectly acceptable to get a whole plate of fried okra as an appetizer and not share it with anyone. They've got coffee set up while you wait (because yes, there's almost always a line), so sit back, relax, and let the smell of fried everything wash over you.
Screen Door
Don't feel like a whole meal to kick off your day? Head over to Delicious Donuts a few blocks from the hotel for some of the best (we're serious) donuts in a town full of really incredible donut shops. Last time we went, we tried everything from ube sweet potato donuts to strawberry shortcake bear claws. Plus, if you really are hungry, their breakfast burritos can't be beat.
