Braeden Cox is an artist working and living in Portland, Oregon. Born in Eugene, Oregon she has also lived in Christchurch, New Zealand and Knoxville, Tennessee. She studied at the University of Oregon in Eugene where she earned a dual major in Fine Art and Digital Art. Braeden went on to complete her BFA degree in Digital Art at the University of Oregon’s Portland campus.

My current work is inspired by communication and the natural environment that I live in. I interpret this action and place of being in mixed media abstract paintings on canvas. Sourcing from emotions, colors, the passage of time, place, speech, graphics and writing. My work is composed by using a combination of water-based media: gesso, charcoal, dry pigments and acrylic paints and inks. These materials are often mixed directly on the canvas using brushes and large industrial trowels. This technique provides an extemporaneous energy that reveals itself in the work.
