WINTER DATE NIGHTS IN PORTLAND

Whether this winter will give us days of rain or showers of snow, we've got a list of great indoor date night ideas for getting the night going with your love. But first, you have to start your night off right, so make sure you...

OMSI AFTER DARK

One of our favorite date nights in all of Portland is heading over to the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry for a hot after-hours event. Check it -- there's always food, always drinks (local wine & beer), and you get free reign over tons of exhibits and experiences throughout the museum. And if there aren't any OMSI After Dark events coming up, keep an eye on their other events like Science Pub, Reel Eats (eating film-appropriate food while watching your fave movies!), and Reel Science, where you combine the fun of movie night with scientific insights from experts (think archaeologists before watching Indiana Jones -- nerdy AND rad!).

AVALON ARCADE

Looking to get together and have fun on a budget? It doesn't get much better than Portland's classic 5¢ arcade, Avalon! Believe us, you can get a LOT of nickels out of a $20 bill. With movies, several huge game rooms, and a thrill ride for the senses, six riders at a time compete for the highest school with laser blasters battling on screen monsters. Take advantage of the time together, and be prepared to dodge arcade-goers of all ages as you head to the front desk to exchange your copious amounts of tickets for amazing classic prizes.

SPIRIT OF 77

Any sporting enthusiasts in the building? We've got the date bar for you! Watch live sports with your significant other, or take your shot at the basketball hoops, compete at ski ball, or check out any number of other bar games during those pesky commercial breaks. You'll have fun playing games while you play the game!

PORTLAND ART MUSEUM

Get cultural with your boo by visiting the gorgeous exhibits at the Pacific Northwest's oldest museum. With a collection of over 50,000 paintings, sculptures, objects, and more, you'll be able to peruse the galleries and show off your intellectual side. Upcoming exhibits as of early 2022 include a display of Frida Kahlo paintings (like the one above), Soviet propoganda posters from between World Wars, Black artists of Oregon, and modern Dakota paintings by artist Oscar Howe.

ROLLERSKATING AT OAKS PARK

Want to join in on a true piece of history? Oaks Park Roller Rink is the OLDEST ROLLER RINK IN AMERICA! Did you know that? Neither did we! Grab your best 70s garb, strap on those knee pads, and head out for a skate! Reminisce about the first time you ever held hands with a crush, sneak a kiss during "Dancing Queen," slam a hot dog and ice cold Coca-Cola at the concessions booth, and get ready for the best date night of your life. And yes, skates are available for rent (if you dare!).
