Places to Watch Fireworks on the Fourth

Fireworks on the Fourth of July are a distinctly American experience. What better way to celebrate than to pack up that mid-afternoon BBQ and head out to find the perfect spectacular viewing spot for all the Independence Day festivities around town? Grab your sparklers and head out to any of our fave Portland firework-watching locations!

OUR FIFTH-FLOOR GUESTS-ONLY PERCH

Since we opened Jupiter NEXT last June, we’ve been boasting about our spectacular views of Downtown Portland. But here’s the not-so-secret: Downtown Views are BEST when fireworks are involved! Crack open a can of Dear Mom wine from our newly-released minibar series, and soak in the killer view of Portland’s SW Waterfront firework show!

THE SKIDMORE BLUFFS

One of Portland’s best kept secrets, the Skidmore Bluffs are a step above residential, providing a unique hangout spot amidst a lovely North Portland neighborhood, ending in absolutely stunning views of Downtown, Forest Park, train tracks, and much more. Just be cool, be respectful, and clean up after yourself, friends! You’ll feel like you’re on top of the world, with fireworks to boot!

INTERNATIONAL ROSE TEST GARDEN

From a different angle, standing on the edge of one of Portland’s most gorgeous features, you’ll see hundreds of roses in bloom in a massive variety of colors. The International Rose Test Garden is where new rose varieties are found, and with a backdrop of fireworks exploding in the background, the color combos will be snap-worthy, for sure!

Why not make a day of it? Head to Oaks Park for all your rollerskating, mini-coaster, Scrambler, cotton candy enjoyment, then spend the rest of the night hanging with your pals and watching the world go by -- seeing the SW Waterfront firework show after a day at our favorite mini-amusement park? Done.

HAWTHORNE BRIDGE

Portland is known as “Bridge City,” and we bet you can guess why -- we have a ton of bridges! Hawthorne Bridge has a super safe and solid pedestrian section of the otherwise car-filled bridge, so you can feel safer while you’re staring at the spectacle of the SW Waterfront’s big show!
