Your Guide to the Best Biketown Drop Sites

Yes, we're talking about those bright orange bikes!

If you live in Portland, we know you’ve seen them: The bright orange bicycles that have been the citywide precursor to the neon green scooters popping up everywhere. Here are a few of our favorite stops to park your bike and do yo’ thang this summer!

BETWEEN JUPITER HOTEL AND JUPITER NEXT

Did you know we have a Biketown drop site between our two buildings? It’s the perfect place to hop on and hop off, and to take a break in between! With the world-class restaurants on our block (Doug Fir Lounge, Hey Love, Le Pigeon, Sizzle Pie, and Noble Rot to name a few) plus shopping (811 E Burnside, Lille Boutique, vintage shops galore), tattoos (Jackalope Tattoo), and cocktails (Doug Fir, Hey Love, Rontoms, B-Side Tavern and more) on every corner, this bike station will have you covered from day to night and back again.

EASTBANK ESPLANADE

The popular Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade is a path that follows the East shore of the Willamette River, offering some of the city's best views, and it’s one of the longest “floating walkways” in the country! Make it a longer ride by looping around from the Steel to the Hawthorne Bridges. Don’t feel like biking? The esplanade is open to pedestrians too!

PROVIDENCE PARK

Futbol fans unite! Now we know soccer hasn’t landed in the US as heavily as other sports (football, basketball and baseball certainly come to mind), but Portland is home to one of the rowdiest, most loyal soccer fan bases for the Portland Timbers (MLS) and the Portland Thorns (NWSL) -- Shout out to the Timbers Army!! Both teams have won big in the last couple years, and summer is the perfect time to see them play at Providence Park, which re-opened in early June following some seriously rad renovations.

PORTLAND FARMERS MARKET

Hungry after a bike ride? Looking for that perfect organic vegetable to finish off your Saturday meal? Want to try at least twenty kinds of apples in one place? The PSU Farmers Market has every organic offering your heart has ever desired -- make sure to stop in at the mushroom stand (we’d never heard of most of them before popping in!). And, summer months feature live musicians throughout the day!

PORTLAND SATURDAY MARKET

Not to be confused with the farmer’s market listed above, the Portland Saturday Market is a staple of your Portland experience. Over 250 vendors show their wares -- you’ll find artwork by painters, t-shirt printers, metal fabricators, leatherworkers, food and drink, and so much more. This quirky and wild open-air marketplace will have your souvenir shopping covered. You may need to check an extra bag!

STAY AND PLAY

Between the Pedalpalooza events during June and the general beauty of summers in the Northwest, it’s the best time of year to get on your bike and ride. Rather than automatically opt for a rideshare, take your trip into your own hands and check out the Biketown bicycles (we’ve got one right in between our two hotels!). And then, when your day is through, end up in a room here at the Jupiter!
